On Thursday 20 October, members of the Swedish, Danish, Finnish and Norwegian Chambers of Commerce in Estonia gathered at SEB’s Innovation Center in Tallinn for a Nordic Business Seminar on the Economy and Green Transports.
– Is the Estonian economy going from the warmness of a steaming sauna to a cold winter dip? Driven by energy prices, Estonia’s inflation is skyrocketing. However, Estonia can enter a recession on the back of large buffers. The business sector shows extremely strong balance sheets and household savings are at a high level, said Mihkel Nestor – Chief Economist at SEB Estonia.
– Change runs on renewables. Business as usual is not an option in the green transformation of transports. Higher ambitions and faster actions are needed and at Neste, we have developed from a regional oil refiner to becoming a global leader in renewable and circular solutions, said Anders Nyberg – Head of Public Affairs Nordics at Neste, as he continued the Seminar.
The Nordic Business Seminar continued with a panel discussion moderated by Karsten Staehr -Professor at Tallinn University of Technology and Research Supervisor at Eesti Pank. In addition to Mihkel Nestor and Anders Nyberg, our panel included Yoko Alender – Member of the Estonian Parliament and former Chairman of the Parliament’s Environment Committee, Katrin Isotamm – Head of Communications and Sustainability at Telia, and Karin Press Johansson – Recruitment Industry Professional and Partner at United Talents.
We concluded the Seminar with snacks, drinks and mingle.
Many thanks to our Business Seminar Supporters SEB and Neste, SEB’s Seminar Organizers Evelin Allas and Sander Valk, our Key Note Speakers Mihkel Nestor and Anders Nyberg, our Moderator Karsten Staehr and our Panelists Yoko Alender, Katrin Isotamm, and Karin Press Johansson for a very contemporary and interesting Seminar.
